Bone grafting

If the bone tissue of the jaw is depleted, a bone graft is needed. When the volume and density of the bone in the implant installation area is low, the implant is not placed in place or loosens and falls in a short period of time. Bone volume and density are restored with bone grafting surgery.

If you are missing a maxillary tooth, a sinus lift surgery is likely to be performed. But if the sinus membrane does not cause a problem in installing the implant, bone grafting will probably be used using the method of preserving the socket or increasing the ridge.

Most people feel little pain after bone grafting. Some people also have no pain. If you take painkillers regularly, the pain will be greatly reduced.

Bone grafting has different methods. But it usually takes between one and two hours. You have to wait between 10 and 30 minutes for the effects of anesthetics to take effect.

People who have immune system disorders or who consume a lot of cigarettes and alcohol are not good candidates for bone graft surgery.

After the bone graft in the dental implant, it is better to lie on your back and raise your head for a few days. This will reduce the chance of bleeding and swelling.

Usually, after one to two weeks, the symptoms of surgery disappear and you return to your previous state. But the complete healing of the transplanted bone takes between 3 and 9 months. After this period, the dental implant can be done. The duration of the interval between these two surgeries depends on the type of graft, the amount of graft material and its location.

In most cases, this surgery is successful. But sometimes the connection may fail. If the pain and swelling worsen after the first week or the area becomes pus, be sure to inform the dentist.

You have to wait between 3 and 9 months to get a dental implant. It takes time for the bone graft material to integrate with the bone tissue. For this reason, the implant cannot be installed immediately.
